SPNH History
Starting Point Neighbourhood House Inc (formerly Ravenswood Neighbourhood House Inc) commenced supporting the community in 1979 as a result of a needs analysis conducted within the Ravenswood community in Whiltshire Place. Initially, we provided craft activities, a social meeting point for the community and formal day care.
In 1996, we moved from Whiltshire Place to our current location at 6 Prossers Forrest Road where we can be more central and accessible to people and offer more services to the community with a larger premise.
In 2016, we changed our name from Ravenswood Neighbourhood House Inc to Starting Point Neighbourhood House Inc to be more inclusive of the wider community, as we also support those in Waverley and St Leonards.
Our Mission
The mission of Starting Point Neighbourhood House is to provide a safe and friendly place where people can grow and develop, where people care, find encouragement, support and information, share skills, knowledge, time and resources.
Starting Point Neighbourhood House service's the suburbs of Ravenswood, Waverley and St Leonards as well as the wider Launceston community.
