A learner driver experience to make a difference.
MISSION STATEMENT
“To support eligible community members with learner driver experience to obtain a provisional licence.”
Wheels 4 Work is located in the Launceston area with a manual and 2 automatic vehicles.
There is no other program currently providing this service to disadvantaged community members of all ages in all suburbs and surrounding areas of Northern Tasmania. We aim to provide learner drivers with driving experiences to gain their Provisional licence.
This is not a program to teach driving skills, it is to provide learner drivers with the driving experience required to obtain a provisional licence. Learner drivers will be required to obtain professional lessons (minimum 2) and be deemed capable prior to commencing in this program by a recognised Driving School.
The volunteer supervisory driver, if possible, will be matched to the learner driver.
Wheels 4 Work Mentors provide valuable driving experience and road safety education to eligible community members, giving them the opportunity to obtain their driver’s licence and have greater access to employment.
